Toyota Tacoma VS Chevrolet Colorado

There have been a lot of speculation about the production of Chevrolet Colorado for U.S. and it was in the air that the company would be stopping the production of Colorado. However thankfully, the 2013 Colorado will be coming to American drivers before the year ends. However, we don’t have complete technical specs of the new model. The information we have so far is coming from the Thai-model that had been launched previously. So what we are going to tell you is basically a well-informed speculation.

What is the competition about?
One thing that is absolutely not coming from any mid air speculation is the competition the new 2013 Chevrolet Colorado is going to have in the market from the rivals. It has nothing to do with home-brands since the Chrysler is not going to launch any updated models after 2012’s success. However, the real challenges one the face of it are Nissan Frontier and 2013 Toyota Tacoma.

Trims Offered:
The Toyota Tacoma 2013 is smaller than full-size pickup truck with the perfect size to do the job. Tacoma will be serving a seating arrangement for 5 and will be on the road in 3 different body styles known as Extended Cab, Crew Cab and Standard Cab. It will be available in 2 and 4 wheel drive and while the Standard and Extended cabs will offer a 72-inches bed, the Crew Cab will bring the options of 60-inches or 72-inches bed length.

Performance:
In terms of quality, the 2013 Toyota Tacoma leads the trek as we see the interior quality and material in Colorado is relatively cheap. Colorado interior features a plastically built interior. The base models of Toyota Tacoma 2013 will be featuring 2.7-litre 4-cylinder engine producing 159hp. The newcomer will be assembled with 5-speed manual transmission plus there will be an option for 4-speed automatic as well. A 4.0-litre V6 engine that produces 236 horsepower, coupled with a 6-speed manual or 5-speed automatic is standard on crew cabs and optional on the four-wheel-drive Access Cab.

You can pick one of the two available options for engine with 2013 Colorado if you are living in non-US country; the base model Colorado features an engine producing 150hp and 258 IB-FT of torque. It is 2.5-liter 4-cylinder Duramax diesel. Additionally, there is also a more powered Duramx diesel 2.8-liter 4-cylinder generating 180-horsepower and 346 pound-feet of torque. A 5-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission are available with the engine. The power plant sounds louder, but the outcome is not the same as it should be especially from a 346 pound-feet of torque pickup truck.
Verdict
We are happy to see a more direct steering and more solid body on new Colorado 2013 model. The compact midsize truck has improved its handling far than in past and boasts up an impressive upgrades in driving dynamics with lesser bounces. But unfortunately, as other trucks having a firm rear, Colorado’s road grip often breaks on rough roads. With a notably improved interior, highly upgraded engine types, better handling and stronger road grip on high speeds, 2013 Toyota Tacoma is winner pickup truck.

Summary
Chevrolet Colorado 2013 is expected at times when the pickup truck market is jam packed with some of the hottest quick sellers including the latest model of Toyota Tacoma for 2013. Where Tacoma offers a variety of engine and body types, Colorado provides more power, which after a pickup truck is all about. Read more details of the comparison here.

  1. Both the cars are amazing and produce some of the amazing performance as well. Amongst both the cars features and suspension of Chevrolet Colorado is much more efficient. As a look wise as well Chevrolet Colorado looks much more better, than Tacoma.
